1. Start the clock when you leave the bridge at the bottom of Clark's.
2. Stop the clock when you reach the sign that says "End Clarks TT" just before crossing the wooden fence at the top.
3. Submit your results by clicking the link to the right. Be sure to include your name, time and date of your ride.
I'll maintain a running list of everybody who completes the official route. Each year I'll start a new list and archive the old. As your fitness and performance improves over the course of the season be sure to send me updated times and I'll adjust your placing based on the new information. Remember to always include your name, time and the date of your ride.

The Official Time Trial

Very cool!
standing start or rolling start???
I say standing start. Easier to start the stopwatch that way - just lean against the bridge railing, press start and go.
Standing start also means Mark's time is no good meaning ... I'm #1! ;-)
Sorry man, my time was based on a standing start (I didn't even lean against the railing - I had to clip in). In fact, if you'll note the official start is when you roll "off" the bridge. I started the watch when I rolled "on" the bridge. So my time actually includes a few extra seconds!
Look for a sub 14 on my next attempt...
I want to see you do a sub 14 at the Saltair Time Trial.
Then I'll know you're cool.
As for me, I'd probably be in the 25 minute range on the Clarks TT
I was in the pain cave for 10:55 on Clark's last November 19th. On a single speed from a slow rolling start over the bridge where the trail was gated to the metal trail sign on top. I know between a few of us scrubs, that was the winning time last fall. I couldn't touch that time this early in the season. Just something to shoot for fellas.
Come on BK, let's have it, I know you've beaten my 10:57 by 20-30 seconds so post it and let's get this thing official.
I want to go on record as being opposed to BPs idea (before he actually posts his idea).
I know from talking to him a few weeks ago that he thinks we should time the 2nd or 3rd interval and not a one time TT. That is just sick, wrong and WAY too painful. They didn't make Lance do his Alpe d Huez TT two or three times so once is good enough for me.
OK, I'm filing these times by proxy for BP who's out of town until tomorrow.
He sent me a text about 3 low cadence strength workouts (back to back to back) the other day and here are the times.
10:38, 10:50 and 10:59
He says he's ready for the official attempt this weekend. (Weather permitting I presume)
I don't know if I have ever ridden clarks trail but I would like to come down and give it a go sometime. How long and how much vert? Is it big ring climbing like dry creek?
Probably big ring climbing for you, middle ring for most the rest of us. UMB says it's 1.6 miles long, 750 ft elevation gain.
Bart- Clarks is the first section of downhill during the Draper ICUP race. If you plan to race it on Monday, you will go down it.
Seeing someone break the 10 minute mark would be cool.
10:38 ... Nice job BP. Which lap was that on, 1st or 2nd?
Bart Man G will be in the low 9 range. I am sure of it. BTW Bart, for me it is a middle and 5-6-7 type of climb. There are a few short inclines near the top that put you over the edge.
My point in the multiple climbs is there is little significance in one fast time. This is Rich's idea more than mine. None of us are training for a prologue!
As far as mtb racing goes, there are multiple efforts and while they may not all be 10+ minutes long, it is your ability to climb after the first few efforts are out of the way. Muscular endurance baby!
I'd like to be able to do 5 climbs all under 11:00 this year. I don't know. I failed on the sub 10:00 bt 5/26. There was some weather interruption, but I will be able to post that sometime soon.
I think Dry Creek is easier b/c it has some false flats where you can recover a bit. Clark's just seems to keep getting steeper as it goes. BPs right, there are a few pitches towards the top that really bite the legs. (esp SSing)
FWIW, my best on Clark's is 10:57 (last year in the fall) while my best up dry creek is 9:54 (gravel to the overlook) about a month ago. So Clark's is a little longer/harder...something.
My wife Whitney Pogue posted a 12:58 this AM on Clarks. I think we need a "clarks tt femme" list on the site for the ladies.
Ok, I've categorized the results by Men and Women. Now I understand why you're so fast Jamie - you have no choice if you want to keep up with your wife!
Pogue,why isnt your time posted?
I last did the time trial last fall and did 10:57. I haven't gotten up there to give it a go this spring yet, but it's coming soon.
Todd "Hamster" Neumarker first to break under 10 minutes. Wow! Just seems unreal.
And good to see Brad Keyes on the board only 2 seconds over 10 minutes.
I'm in awe of all you guys on the list.
I gotta get back there and see if I can move u\out of the bottom spot.
Hey Neumarker. Can you verify that you started and stopped your watch at the right locations for the time trial. I don't know a whole lot of Cat 4 racers that can beat pros on that climb. If your time is legit...congratulations you are a climbing machine.
I can understand the suspicion. Not many people know Todd, but I do. So I wrote a little intro about him:
http://kanyonkris.blogspot.com/2008/06/who-is-this-todd-neumarker-guy.html
I'm confident his time is good. But I'm sure he'd be open to a witnessed TT, just don't be surprised if he hits 9:30.
Booyaakaasha Mr. Sub-Ten. You have my respect. Nice climb.
Yeehaw - I just laid down a 12:37! Finally moving me out of last place (15:50) to something respectable in the 12s. I didn't think it would be a big deal to me, but I'm pumped to hit that time.
Oops, typo and couldn't edit, so I deleted and re-posted.
Here it is, hopefully typo-free:
That is very impressive. I knew my time wouldn't last long once the really fast guys started getting motivated. I left for Powell for a week the night of my TT so I just got back and got word of the happenings. Great job BK and Todd those are amazing times.
BK, glad to see that you finished without any mishaps, I believe the curse is finally lifted.
I talked to Bryson Perry the other day and tried to bait him into giving it a go. He's a pro roadie and does a ton of mtn biking too with a very impressive resume in both disciplines. We know Bart G is being tempted to give it a try as well. We'll see if they can break 9. My guess is yes.
It's been done, sub 9.
And NO it wasn't by me, not even in my dreams.
That is all I can say, but it came from a very reliable source. Hopefully they will contact Mark and make it official.
Man you guys are flying up that thing! I just pushed myself pretty hard and pulled a 14:50.
That was on a Niner RIP9. I didn't fully lock it out, but next time I will to see the difference. More practice... Hoping for a sub 13:00 time.
I finally made it under 20min. I know mine is the slowest time posted but not bad for a 230 pounder on a 33lb freeride bobbing machine. I'm going to crush it next year. Thanks BP for helping me out this summer.
Great site...I would love to see a TT for runners that like to run up Clark's (like me.)
Is there such a site?
Does anyone know if clarks is ridable yet?
we should probably bring this back
